THE ACCUSATIONS KEEP PILING UP FOR LOCAL COUNCILLOR
-From sexual assault, to drunk driving, and damage to property, the accusations just keep flowing-
In pic: Droopy eyed Councillor Norman Adonis, in the driving seat with friend. Even after allegedly causing the accident, is still strapped in allowing a women to get out of her vehicle, walk to him and ask for an explanation.

In 2022 Councillor Normal Adonis was called out for the alleged sexually assault of a 73-year-old woman when he took her on an outing for her birthday.
“I also saw a pull-out couch, I didn’t ask him anything because I wasn’t scared of him like that and I didn't want to offend him.”
'She alleges that the councilor later got so gesuip that he started crying and verbally abused her. She claims Adonis, 43, at the time, rubbed his naked butt in her face and “dangled his penis in front of her”. That case was tossed out due to lack of evidence.
LATEST - BACK IN THE SPOT LIGHT
Fast forward, LESS THAN 2 years later, and here we are again, the same councilor, an alleged alcohol involvement AGAIN, and this time, a car crash.
Councillor Norman Adonis was again the centre of attention when he was involved in a car crash with a female resident of Mitchell's Plain a few weeks ago. The incident fortunately saw no serious injuries, but significant damages to the complainants vehicle caused by an alleged intoxicated ward councilor.
At the time of the incident, Ms. Phillips (*not her real name) says she felt the impact, and instead of the obvious sight of the vehicle at fault stopping, she watch the driver carry on for a further 50 to 80m before coming to a stop.
The impact resulted in parts for the front of her vehicle being dislodged from the body of the vehicle. On approaching Mr. Adonis' vehicle she noticed a passenger who was holding an alcoholic beverage can in his hand, with a lekke yskoue OPEN Black Label lodged poking its head out in the center console between the passenger and drivers seat.
Because *Ms Phillips is not a consumer of alcohol, she sensed a strong, distinct smell of alcohol coming from inside his vehicle and droopy eyed, Mr. Adonis sounding "extremely intoxicated". After a brief discussion with him, he gave her his drivers license, as well as contact information and indicated that the matter could be handled by their insurance companies.
No police or law enforcement officials were called to the scene. (He got off extremely lucky there)
Weeks later, Ms Phillips was left with frustration as all her calls and messages to Mr. Adonis were met with the proverbial brick wall.
"He's been avoiding my phone calls, not responding to my messages and not returning promises to call me back."
"All I want is for him to communicate with me, even if he had offered to pay for the damages outside of the insurance, I would have been 'okay' with that, but his just been uncooperative and evasive'.- Ms Phillips.
When asked for comment, Cllr Adonis said that they he has informed his insurance company to contact here, and expected that connection to have been made a while before, but no contact had been made.
A response one would not expect from someone who was in the wrong for alleged drunk driving, and one that has until recently, annoyed Ms Phillips, who says he at no stage sounded apologetic or empathetic to the incident he was unquestionably in the wrong for.
UNACCEPTABLE CULTURE OF LAWLESSNESS
She says that for too long, reckless drivers, and in this case, drunk drivers, are getting away with terrorizing the innocent with their bad habits. More so with Mr. Adonis being a public official and one who is supposed to be an example to many, has acted in a manner unbecoming for a ward councilor and an incident that needs to be spoken about with action taken against those who don't respect the office they hold.
One has to now ask the question: 'For how long will Mr. Adonis be given 'a pass' for these allegations, and the reality is, are we willing to wait for a serious victim to emerge before anyone within the CoCT actually takes action against what seemingly seems to be a loose cannon? Lord knows the signs are all there.
We need to move past the point where councilors (whether within the DA administration, or any other in the county) forget the oath they took, when taking office, where some believe wall of invulnerability is build around them.
A case has been lodged with local SAPS, and Ms Philips still awaits claims for damages to her vehicle to be settled by his insurance.
